Our company, a family owned enterprise, was founded by Mr. Kassam Noor Merchant shortly after Indian independence in 1947. Initially in the business of locally grown sawn timber, the company was expanded, in 1985, by his son and co-founder, Mr. Ashraf Saudagar K. Merchant with the introduction of round Teak logs and other Hardwood from Burma (Myanmar) and West Africa into the Indian markets.
By the early 2000’s, we were one of the largest suppliers of Burma Teak round logs and Gurjan logs in Indian market supplying local sawmill traders and plywood manufacturers.
In 2007, due to the growing demand for value-added products from Myanmar, we introduced a range of pure Gurjan plywood, flexiply and natural Teak veneers.
More recently, we supply full Gurjan Face veneers to cater the need of local plywood manufacturers across India.

We started providing our customers “Pure Burmese” Gurjan ply-n-boards. We began to import various construction based items like plywood, block board and flexible plywood, and interior decorative items like fancy veneer plywood.
By locating our distribution channels and warehouses close to all major shipping ports such as Mumbai, Mangalore, Kandla, Chennai and Tuticorin, our India-wide distribution provides efficient deliveries within 1-3 working days. Our warehouses are organized to be as flexible and efficient as possible and to respond rapidly to orders. To increase our timber storage capacity further, we recently added a new warehouse facility, over 25000 sq.ft, in Mangalore.
